Rapid Mobilization for Abadi LNG (Indonesia)
When a major energy client needed a full expatriate commercial team staffed for the FEED phase, Emmerick Group took ownership of sourcing, immigration, and payroll. Within weeks, the team was in place and project milestones were secured—on time and without disruption.
At Emmerick Group, we engage with project leadership early in the FEED phase to build a workforce strategy that aligns with project milestones. This includes working directly with Project Directors to review hiring plans, organization charts, and execution timelines. We identify which critical roles will arise during this phase and develop proactive recruitment strategies to secure them. By targeting niche skill sets and building shortlists in advance, we help ensure that the project moves smoothly into execution without delays caused by manpower gaps.
As projects transition into EPC, the manpower challenge shifts to scale and speed. We partner with project teams to fill large volumes of engineering and project management roles, ensuring alignment with both global standards and local regulations. Our value comes from balancing global talent access with in-country compliance, rapidly mobilizing contractors, and integrating them seamlessly into the project structure. By leveraging deep networks and technology-driven insights, we secure the right mix of skills to keep schedules and budgets on track during the most resource-intensive stage of the project.
During construction and commissioning, projects demand boots-on-the-ground talent that can deliver under tight deadlines. We specialize in mobilizing site-based teams—construction managers, supervisors, and commissioning engineers—while ensuring every hire meets strict safety, technical, and cultural fit standards. Our proactive approach to workforce planning means we can respond quickly to scope changes, additional packages, or accelerated timelines, ensuring projects cross the finish line without manpower delays.

LNG Case Study - LNG
Supporting INPEX on the Abadi LNG Megaproject
Abadi LNG is one of the most ambitious upstream and LNG developments in Southeast Asia, led by INPEX in partnership with Shell. The project will establish Indonesia as a key LNG hub while meeting rising global demand for cleaner energy. With multiple FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) packages running in parallel and complex subsea, offshore, and onshore scopes, Abadi LNG requires world-class talent and robust manpower planning to keep the project on schedule.
Emmerick Group was selected to support talent acquisition and manpower planning during the critical FEED phase. Leveraging our deep LNG and subsea expertise, we worked directly with INPEX and their engineering partners to identify, source, and secure top-tier talent across engineering and project management disciplines.
Key areas of support included:
Package Scopes: We provided talent support on two of the largest FEED packages — the Gas Export Pipeline & SURF, OLNG and FPSO
Talent Mapping: Built exclusive candidate maps for hard-to-fill roles, focusing on professionals with prior deepwater and floating production experience (notably those who had worked on Chevron’s Gorgon Project in Australia).
Client Advisory: Beyond recruitment, we advised INPEX on organizational design, onboarding frameworks, and payroll structures through our local partner network in Indonesia.
Scarce Talent Pool – Deepwater subsea engineers with LNG experience are globally limited.
Project Timing – Abadi LNG required quick mobilization of teams while still in FEED, creating competition with other LNG megaprojects (e.g., Qatar, Mozambique).
Compliance & Payroll – Operating in Indonesia required careful structuring around local manpower licensing, tax frameworks, and immigration compliance.
Niche Talent Pools: Using our network of former operators and EPC veterans, we rapidly built shortlists of highly qualified subsea and SURF engineers.
Rapid Shortlists: Delivered candidates in under 24 hours for critical positions.
Market Insight Reports: Provided Talent Market Insights and Competitor Analysis, giving INPEX visibility on where talent was located, migration trends, and which companies had recently released staff.
Compliance Framework: Partnered with a licensed Indonesian entity to manage employment contracts, immigration, and payroll on INPEX’s behalf, ensuring compliance with PTK-007 and other local regulations.
Successful Sourcing of Key Roles: Supplied Subsea, Pipeline, and SURF specialists with prior mega-project experience, including expats willing to return to Indonesia.
Client Confidence: Strengthened Emmerick’s position as a trusted manpower partner to INPEX.
Foundation for Future Phases: Built a talent pipeline for EPC and Construction phases, giving INPEX confidence that manpower needs can be met throughout the project lifecycle.
Abadi LNG is not just a project — it’s a cornerstone of Indonesia’s LNG future. Emmerick Group’s involvement at this stage demonstrates our ability to deliver world-class manpower solutions for one of the toughest and most competitive global energy projects.
By combining global reach, local expertise, and technical depth, we ensure that INPEX has the talent required to move from FEED to EPC with confidence.
Recognizing that operators, EPC Contractors often face hurdles in sourcing the specialized technical roles needed for large capital projects, we at Emmerick Group provide a solution. , Our extensive experience in LNG and Chemical Manufacturing and worldwide network allow us to bridge this gap. Our 20 years of project staffing and workforce solutions for the oil and gas sector combined with our assignment support and global mobility services, ensure your projects have the right team from day one.
